Dr. Jeff Geschwind - Globally Recognized Expert on Liver Cancer
With more than 25 years of experience in his field, Jeff Geschwind, MD, is a compassionate and talented physician who is the Medical Director of Oncology, Image-Guided Therapy, and Imaging Core Lab at NAMSA, one of largest US contract research organizations in the US. He is also a Medical Advisor (Medical Affairs) for HistoSonic. Throughout his career, his clinical and research focus has been on developing new therapies for liver cancer. In addition, he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board with New Phase, a company treating patients with advanced cancers with a highly innovative form of selective hyperthermia. Dr. Jeff Geschwind also provides scientific consulting on topics related to interventional oncology to Philips Healthcare and is also a consultant for Cage Pharma, a company he helped found that is developing drugs targeting cancer glycolysis.
Dr. Jeff Geschwind’s academic background includes professorships at Yale University School of Medicine where he was the Chairman of the Department of RAdiology and Biomedical Imaging and at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he served as Director of Interventional Radiology for nearly 15 years.
Recognized internationally as a liver cancer expert, Jeff Geschwind, MD, has guided more than 50 clinical trials as lead or co-investigator mostly to evaluate new therapeutic strategies to treat patients with liver cancer. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and has received significant recognition and many awards for his cutting edge research, including the Boston University School of Medicine Distinguished Alumnus Award, the Alexander Margulis Award for Excellence in Research from the Unoversity of California San Francisco, the American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award, and the Dr. Gary J. Becker Young Investigator Award from the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Geschwind received his medical degree (MD) at the Boston University School of Medicine and pursued a diagnostic radiology residency as a Resident Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco. He subsequently completed a two-year vascular and interventional radiology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
